On 400 Main Street, the Susanville Elks Lodge #1487 has been doing what it does best long before anyone thought to review it online. Walk through the front door and you get a clear sense of the place immediately: well-kept halls, a room that fills up on Monday Night Football, and members who actually say hello to strangers. It earned a 4.4-star rating from locals for a reason, and that reason shows up in the details.

This is one of those rare spots where Lassen County residents of all kinds cross paths. Ranchers, retirees, young families, and long-timers share tables here. The Lodge hosts weddings, community fundraisers, seasonal banquets, and fraternal meetings throughout the year. Events draw real crowds because people genuinely want to be here, not because there is nowhere else to go.

The building itself is in excellent condition, a point reviewers mention without being asked. That care reflects something the membership takes seriously: this place belongs to the town, and the town shows up for it.

What We Offer

Lodge #1487 opens its doors for a wide range of events and member activities. Regular fraternal meetings keep the BPOE mission alive locally, covering charitable giving, youth programs, and veteran support that actually reach Susanville residents.

The banquet hall is available for private events including weddings, birthday milestones, and organizational gatherings. Members enjoy access to the lounge, regular social nights, and seasonal watch parties that draw standing-room crowds. The staff and volunteer crew keep things running with the kind of hands-on attention you only find in a member-operated lodge.

New members are welcomed through a straightforward initiation process. If you live in or around Susanville and want to plug into something with real roots in this community, the Lodge is a practical and rewarding place to start.

"This historic site is still an active meeting place for country locals. I'd call this an example of the core or heart of our country town. If given the chance I recommend attending any event here. The full kitchen and experienced staff put top shelf culinary creations at your finger tips. The full service bar and knowledgeable "jerk"....lol....can provide precisely what you ordered including a true martini(Gin), even shaken if preferred....🤠.....utilized and maintained by the good amiable local country folk you'd expect to find at any quiet and quaint American pioneering town."

"Booked my wedding there in 2017, the people were constantly complaining even though we weren't doing anything. They were kicking out my guests because they said everyone was drunk and was out of control even though the only ones that were drinking was my husband and I. I only had a glass of wine and he had 2 beers. They even made my husband clean when we were supposed to be dancing. They charged alot. We rented it out until 12 and they kicked us all out at 7. I even asked them to put streams of lights on the ceiling which I paid extra for it and they didn't even do that. My husband also told the person in vharge to be there a certain time to unlock the doors so he can set up the arrangements, they were 2 hours late. Also they were supposed to set up chairs and tables and they didn't do that. My husband and father in law went to go into the kitchen to put food up for the reception and there was mold on the counter and mold in the fridge so they had to clean it. It was the worst time. I do not recommend ever going here to get married"

"Even though the lodge has very limited open days and that day was not one of them, one member was there and gave us a tour. He was friendly and quite willing to talk with us."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
